Dear Central to Eveleigh Stakeholder
Following the Government announcement of its intentions to explore
possibilities for the Central to Eveleigh Corridor REDWatch put together a
list of people and organisations that we thought would have an interest in
what happens in the Central to Eveleigh Corridor. This is the first email we
have sent out to this list.
You can find the documents from the initial announcement from the Central to
Eveleigh Revitalisation
<http://www.urbangrowthnsw.com.au/news/news/central-to-eveleigh-revitalisati
on.aspx> page on the UrganGrowth NSW website. Some media reports and other
information can be found on the REDWatch website under the Central to
Eveleigh <http://www.redwatch.org.au/RWA/corridor/> tab.
Over the last few months UrbanGrowth NSW has been meeting with stakeholders
and undertaking some background work about the site. UrbanGrowth NSW and the
Department of Planning and Infrastructure have undertaken to roll out
community engagement in line with the participation envisaged in the new
planning system. In November UrbanGrowth will be contacting some stakeholder
organisations to invite them to workshops. They will also hold a meeting
with a random selection of people from the surrounding area and they will
meet with key government and institutional landholders in the area. More
material about Central to Eveleigh is expected to become available out of
this process.
I am writing to you now to alert you to the attached advertisement which
appeared in Friday's Australian Financial Review. The advertisement is an
initial Registration of Interest process for the three undeveloped
commercial sites at the Australian Technology Park. While the add specifies
the size of the sites, a media release issued on the same day by the
Minister states the NSW Government is "open to ideas that would expand the
current gross floor area footprint". You can see the Minister's statement at
Kick start for railway precinct development

erialReleases/~3/qhlhaxmxDBQ/getdocument.aspx?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medi
um=email> (PDF) or at
www.urbangrowth.nsw.gov.au/news/news/kick-start-for-railway-precinct-develop
ment.aspx (webpage). It should be noted that the advertisement is a
Registration of Interest (ROI) process rather than a more formal Expression
of Interest (EOI) process, so government will use this as part of its
testing of market interest initially.
While the broader discussion about the future of the Central to Eveleigh
corridor is a long term discussion, sites that have already been identified
will be progressed much faster. Clearly groups with an interest in the
future of the ATP site will want to have some input into discussions about
the future of the ATP sooner rather than later.
If you do not wish to receive emails from REDWatch concerning Central to
Eveleigh then please reply to this email asking to be removed from the list.
You are welcome to pass this email on to others who may be interested.
