Dear people with an interest in North Eveleigh, Heritage and Central to
Eveleigh,

*It is quite some time since REDWatch has emailed these lists but with
planning starting again this week on North Eveleigh we are notifying these
lists for those that still retain an interest. If this is not of interest
please ignore or unsubscribe. REDWatch runs a regular supporter email list

North Eveleigh Planning Restarts

With the demise of Urban Growth Development Corporation, planning for the
North Eveleigh site has moved to Transport for NSW in conjunction with The
Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE). DPIE say it is
taking "*a new approach to precinct planning which centres the planning
system around people, places, public spaces and the environment. While the
planning process for the Redfern North Eveleigh precinct will be led by the
NSW Government due to its strategic importance, a key element of the new
approach is close collaboration with local councils, stakeholders and the
local community*."

REDWatch has been invited to *a two day Place Design Forum for the now
styled “Redfern North Eveleigh precinct” on 26-27 August 2020*. The Place
Design Forum will provide an opportunity for a diverse range of government,
education, industry and community stakeholders to come together to discuss
issues and ideas unique to the precinct which will inform further strategic
planning. Due to COVID-19, the Place Design Forum will be undertaken as a
series of online collaborative sessions, facilitated by place design
consultancy Roberts Day.

Participants in the two-day Place Design Forum for the Redfern North
Eveleigh precinct on 26-27 August 2020 have been supplied a Redfern North
Eveleigh Place Design Forum Info Pack
<http://www.redwatch.org.au/RWA/statesignificant/northeveleigh/TfNSW/200819dpie/download>.
We have posted this on the REDWatch website as it provides an overview of
both the site and the program for the forum.

Day 1 will introduce the project and the site, consider the elements that
shape great places and explore how Redfern North Eveleigh will evolve into
the future. Day 2 will involve a series of invited technical sessions
focusing on place character, culture, identity and design.

Alongside this week’s Redfern North Eveleigh Design Forum, Transport for
NSW (TfNSW) is also looking for *community input on planning for the site.
You can have a say by completing the online survey

The Future of Eveleigh – REDWatch Meeting 6pm Thursday 3 Sept

With the North Eveleigh Place Design Forum happening over two days this
week, Carriageworks having been given a lifeline and Mirvac’s South
Eveleigh progressing quickly, we thought it was a good opportunity to have
a session that looks at what is happening at Eveleigh. Also located in
Eveleigh is the planned Redfern Station Southern Concourse and a proposed
development above Platforms 11 and 12.

*So join us online on Zoom at 6pm Thursday 3rd September to find out what
happened at the North Eveleigh design forum* and what the future of
Eveleigh might look like. The link to the Zoom meeting is

Meeting ID: 880 4767 1010 Passcode: 133341 or join by phone on 2 8015 6011

REDWatch has been involved with this site from the Premier’s department’s
RED Strategy days in the early 2000s, through the establishment of the
Redfern Waterloo Authorities Built Environment Plan that set controls for
the site and its proposed North Eveleigh Masterplan and Eveleigh Walk
Bridge. We have been involved in the Sydney Metropolitan Development
Authority planning around the delivery of City West’s Platform Apartments
and more recently, UrbanGrowth’s planning for the Macdonaldtown end of the
site. You can find much of this documented on the North Eveleigh section of
the REDWatch website

Redfern Station Southern Concourse workshop - 25 August 2020

A second workshop on the design of the Redfern Station Southern Concourse
interaction with Little Eveleigh and Marian Streets will happen on line on
Tuesday 25 August 12pm-1.30pm. It will focus on how the shared zones may
work and function. This may include topics such as how the cycleway would
work, resident driveway access, delivery and emergency vehicle access, and
pedestrian movements. Subject matter experts from Transport for NSW and
City of Sydney Council will also take part in these workshops to answer
questions. An external facilitator will again run the workshop. If you
missed the first workshop and want to join in this discussion, please
register by emailing projects at transport.nsw.gov.au

Geoff
