Hi All

Bruce Lay has sent the email below offering to hold a meeting at his place
to set up a working group. If you are interested please respond to
lay.heritage at gmail.com rather than the entire list. I am happy to be
involved and assist a working group get underway.

Both Bruce and I are interested to know if anyone has seen a hard copy of
the park flyer or the newsletter distributed to houses around North
Eveleigh. REDWatch has an offer for a sit down with the SMDA over the park
but I think it is more appropriate that we ask for a second session with
more notice.

The North Eveleigh List is currently set up as an announce list rather than
a discussion list so that people don't get bombarded with emails. Maybe a
yahoo group could be set up for discussion purposes for those that want to
be involved in on line discussion.

Regards, Geoffrey Turnbull

Subject: Where do we go from here?

Geoff Turnbull spokesperson of REDWATCH has kindly established this network
to continue the resident conversation on N Eveleigh and hopefully get better
outcomes than the disgraceful process and evaluation (in house) that has
occured to date. Hopefully the rolling of the RWA/SMDA into LANDCOM next
month might lead to a better and more open process and a more professional
approach to the planning/design issues. (Bruce is an architect/town
planner/heritage
consultant)

So be good to get together asap to get started?

REDWATCH has also advised that there is a consultation proposed for the new
park at the west end of the site this Saturday 24 10 - 12 in Yaama Dhiyann @
255 Wilson Street with submissions to close by Dec 17.

This was news to us, no notification from the SMDA - there is a flyer on the
SMDA website but has anyone actually recieved one?

This is obviously not enough notice of the consultation and an attempt to
bulldoze it through and spend the Federal grant o $ 7.2m of money allocated
to affordible housing (sic) to kick start development - so extending the
consultations could be one thing we could ask for. We will be away this
weekend, but if you able to go - be good - and give some feedback please.

You may recollect that the public meeting about staged development - the
roadworks etc on the 21 May this year, with nearly 100 people voted
unanimously to ask for a comprehensive traffic study to deal with the
impacts of full development of this site be done before determination of any
applications. This meeting also rejected the access being maintained in the
current location in terms of impact and safety etc. They are obviously
determined to grab the money and build the road system to kick - start
Meriton - town.

We would be happy to host the first meeting and then on the basis of numbers
decide on a suitable venue? We could start by asking for a reasonable
consultation process with the design of parks issue?

Thanks for listening!
