Build a Bridge Campaign Update
As you may be aware REDWatch with the Alexandria Residents Group (ARAG) and Friends of Erskineville have been running a Build the Bridge campaign for a Bridge connection between Carriageworks and South Eveleigh. You can see the petition here if you have not signed it yet - https://actionnetwork.org/letters/build-a-bridge
We have requested a public meeting where Transport presents to the Community why it considers that such a bridge does not add value to sites they are wanting to develop on each side of the railway corridor.
I have recently been advised that they have been updating movement figures based on the new Southern Concourse and expect in the next month or so to be able to set a time for such a meeting. So we will let people know when we have a date and location.
UTS Students ideas on Build a Bridge Campaign - 13 June 1-5pm RCC
For the last 2 weeks we have been working with some UTS students as part of a Citizen's Architecture project that is looking at ways to support the campaign for the long-promised bridge between Carriageworks and South Eveleigh. The students will present their proposals on Friday 13 June at Redfern Community Centre from 1pm to 5pm. Interested community members are welcome to attend.
After this presentation the three groups will sit down to look at the campaign in the light of this input - if you would like to be involved, please let me know.
What is happening with North Eveleigh
The short answer we are told from Transport is very little other than work on the CME building. The work on the Large Erecting Shop has also stalled. An update is promised by TfNSW at the Bridge Report Back.
On the Clothing Store end Homes NSW have been focussing on finalising the agreements between it and TfNSW for the land transaction which has turned out to be a bit more complex than they envisaged. Homes NSW has formed the internal team and appointed a lead for the project but we have not yet met them. We have told Homes NSW we want to set up a community meeting so they can talk with the community about what they are wanting to happen on the site.
Again, we will let you know Homes NSW has something more to say.

Regards,

Geoff
