The wording of Clover’s letter seems to confirm that the TMAP is only for the North Eveleigh Affordable Housing Proposal and not the possible redevelopment of the entire site as set out in the North Eveleigh Concept Plan approval. The letter does state that “but that the TMAP will consider other major developments in the immediate area”. This may just mean the Sydney University developments, it should also include some assessment of the broader impact of the development proposed in the North Eveleigh concept plan as the TMAP requirement by the Department of Planning arose from inadequacies in the Concept Plan’s Traffic Study. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'>Clover’s letter references the council resolved to prepare a report on what role the City can play in protecting and promoting heritage in the Eveleigh railway precinct. It also resolved to explore ways to establish a new government or community-based heritage body to replace the Redfern Waterloo Heritage Taskforce. I will be following this matter up with Surbjit Bhatti the City’s Heritage Planner as the moving of the SMDA into UrbanGrowth NSW has made this matter even more important as work the SMDA said they would do on heritage including a new heritage mechanism did not come to fruition. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'>Finally Lift Redfern has launched the second phase of it’s campaign for Lifts at Redfern Station.
