Please pass the flyer on to those that might be interested.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The Better Planning Network (BPN) now has over 380 community groups as members and is providing a voice for these diverse community groups. The Better Planning Network had a highly successful forum on Monday on the New Planning System at Parliament House. The forum was opened by <b>The Hon. Brad Hazzard MP</b>, Minister for Planning and Infrastructure. It was co-hosted by <b>The Hon. Luke Foley MLC</b>, Shadow Minister for Planning and Infrastructure; <b>The Rev. The Hon Fred Nile</b>, MLC, Parliamentary Leader Christian Democratic Party & Assistant President, NSW Legislative Council, <b>Mr David Shoebridge, MLC</b>, Greens NSW Spokesperson for Planning; and <b>Mr Alex Greenwich, MP</b>, Independent Member for Sydney. The Master of Ceremonies for the forum was ABC 7.30 NSW host <b>Quentin Dempster</b>. ARAG put out a media release following the first information session held by the Department of Planning and Infrastructure at Australian Technology Park (Eveleigh) about the new planning framework on 15 May 2013 - <a href="http://www.redwatch.org.au/govt/nsw/nps13/130515arag">Changes to Planning in NSW may not mean better outcomes for the community</a> .<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>The Department have decided to push ahead with the Metro Plan Consultation</b>. BPN asked the Minister to withdraw the Metro Strategy and bring it back after the new system was in place with the new community involvement mechanisms. The Metro Strategy becomes the Regional Plan for Sydney in the new system and it sets in place the main growth targets and plans for the new system before the new system is in place. The Department have <b>extended the Metro Strategy consultation to end at the same time as the new Planning system consultation – 28 June. </b> The Department has just announced a small number of public forums on the Metro Strategy. These are expected to fill up quickly.
