<a name="_Hlk210139080">Badumurru Place</a>. An application for this place name has been lodged with the Geographical Names Board. The proposal is open for submissions via its
<a href="https://proposals.gnb.nsw.gov.au/currentproposals/0d79c3cf-7675-4d5c-a53d-b6cdea08fee6">
<span style="color:#0563C1">website</span></a> until 26 October 2025.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

“water pathway”. This name recognises the cultural and environmental significance of the wetlands and waterways historically connected to the Waterloo and Redfern areas. Badumurru combines the words Badu (water) and Murru (path), reflecting the deep relationship
with Country and traditional practices of movement, gathering and connection. These water systems once served as vital transport routes, with Nawi (traditional canoes) used to move people and resources and maintain family ties across the region.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
