Hi people with an interest in North Eveleigh
Just a reminder that City West and UrbanGrowth Development Corporation
(UGDC) are holding an information session this Wednesday 20 March 2013 from
5.30-7pm at Yaama Dhiyaan, 255 Wilson Street Darlington NSW 2008 to:
. to view the plans for the City West affordable housing project and
to meet the City West project team and learn more about the project
. to view the development application for the proposed North
Eveleigh western end parks
The flyer for Wednesday's meeting is attached to pass on to others.
Attached also is a response from Clover Moore on a number of Darlington
Issues including on Council's involvement with UGNSW / SMDA on North
Eveleigh Transport Management and Accessibility Plan TMAP and on Heritage.
Under the Concept Plan Approval for North Eveleigh the TMAP is to be
exhibited before or with the first floor space to go onto the North Eveleigh
site which will be The City West Affordable Housing. The wording of Clover's
letter seems to confirm that the TMAP is only for the North Eveleigh
Affordable Housing Proposal and not the possible redevelopment of the entire
site as set out in the North Eveleigh Concept Plan approval. The letter does
state that "but that the TMAP will consider other major developments in the
immediate area". This may just mean the Sydney University developments, it
should also include some assessment of the broader impact of the development
proposed in the North Eveleigh concept plan as the TMAP requirement by the
Department of Planning arose from inadequacies in the Concept Plan's Traffic
Study.
Clover's letter references the council resolved to prepare a report on what
role the City can play in protecting and promoting heritage in the Eveleigh
railway precinct. It also resolved to explore ways to establish a new
government or community-based heritage body to replace the Redfern Waterloo
Heritage Taskforce. I will be following this matter up with Surbjit Bhatti
the City's Heritage Planner as the moving of the SMDA into UrbanGrowth NSW
has made this matter even more important as work the SMDA said they would do
on heritage including a new heritage mechanism did not come to fruition.
Finally Lift Redfern has launched the second phase of it's campaign for
Lifts at Redfern Station. You may have seen my shorts in the South Sydney
Herald about this if not you can find details here Lift Redfern online
petition <http://www.southsydneyherald.com.au/lift-redfern-online-petition/>
. Please sign the online petition and pass the details on to friends and
neighbours who share your concern. You can sign the petition and put in your
own reasons for supporting lifts at Redfern at
