Hi North Eveleigh Interest people
Some of you may not be aware that UrbanGrowth NSW Central to Eveleigh used
some density options for development on North Eveleigh at their workshop at
the end of May. It is clear that the Newtown end of North Eveleigh will be
one of the first sites to be developed under Central to Eveleigh. It is also
clear that UrbanGrowth is looking at increasing those densities, including
the possibility of moving buildings back into the park space negotiated
during the earlier concept plan negotiations.
I have recently come across a couple of people from that area that were not
aware that North Eveleigh is again in play so I am sending this email to
alert you to this if you are not already aware. The whole presentation from
the May UrbanGrowth session can be found online at Presentation: Community
workshop draft design and planning principles. 30 May 2015 (19.4 MB) (pdf)
ownload> . The density and North Eveleigh case study are at the end of this
document. You will also find the density section on the REDWatch website at
Central to Eveleigh Density Presentation 30 May 2015
<http://www.redwatch.org.au/RWA/corridor/150530c2ed/download> . you will
notice that this presentation has some indicative density diagrams including
for North Eveleigh and on the railway corridor behind Pines Estate - these
indicate where UrbanGrowth believes density of different levels can be
placed along the corridor.
I have also attached the North Eveleigh (Newtown end) case study that was
used at the UrbanGrowth May meeting to look at density options for this site
as a case study. You will notice that what is being considered is
significantly taller that the earlier approved North Eveleigh Concept Plan.
This is the last week (until Sunday 12 July) for comment on the 10 key
issues that UrbanGrowth Central to Eveleigh have on exhibition so please
have a look and make comments at
http://engage.centraltoeveleigh.com.au/city_thinking_home. Also on
exhibition at the moment is the Sydney Metro proposal which proposes a new
station either at Sydney University or Waterloo - you can comment on this
proposal until 17th July at Have your say on the University of Sydney or
Waterloo Station option
<http://sydneymetro.info/joinaforum/forum_topics/have-your-say-on-university
-of-sydney-or-waterloo-station-options> and more generally Make a
submission.

There was a North Eveleigh Working Group established a while ago which has
not met for some time so it would be good to get that group together again
for a discussion about how people wish to respond. Hopefully a group of
those around the site can again come together to provide a voice to
UrbanGrowth for the local community over North Eveleigh. If you would like
to participate in the working group then please let me or Bruce Lay know and
I will pass on details when a meeting is being arranged.
In the absence of the Working Group Bruce Lay has produced the attached
flyer which he is distributed around the area. It is attached in case you
have not seen it. Please contact Bruce if you want more information or want
to give him a hand.
Finally this North Eveleigh email list came out of the meeting in 2012 it
was put together of people with a particular interest in North Eveleigh as
the site was covered in various ways by people involved in REDWatch, RAIDD
and SLA. REDWatch has hosted this list but it is not ours, it was initially
set up on behalf of these groups to keep people advised broadly about issues
that impacted North Eveleigh.
I hope you find this information of interest
Regards,
Geoff
